Gotten into anime :D

I recently have gotten into anime. Before, the only anime I watched was Avatar: The Last Airbender. Now I watch Lucky Star, Yu Yu Hakusho and Full Metal Alchemist. I love Lucky Star because it's so random - that's what makes it so funny. I found Yu Yu Hakusho from a YouTube video with a Tetris remix, who would have thought that would have started something off like this? Watching that video inspired me to watch anime for some reason.

I asked on the Ubuntu Forums about people's favourite anime and one that came up a lot was FLCL. I don't think that it's a good one to start with because it kind of freaked me out a bit...another one that came up a lot was Cowboy Bebop. I haven't gotten around to seeing what that one is like yet.

If any of you reading this have any recommendations, could you comment on this post or reply to my thread in the Ubuntu Forums?

For oldie romantic comedy I recommend Kimagure Orange Road, Maison Ikkoku, Urusei Yatsura..

ahh anemi

Dont know how you can get into anime. All my friends love it but I just dont see whats so great about it. Please dont kill me for saying that now lol. I think I dont like it because I saw some really long freaky sci-fi anime that scared the crap out of me. It was the first time I ever stayed up late and I watched it until I fell asleep. It was really creapy believe me...Since then, no anemi for me.

Avatar isn't really anime,

Avatar isn't really anime, just a very animeish. It's western animation. But if we mean with anime same as japanese mean with anime, then it is because for them anime means just animation, for us westerners it means commonly japanese animation.

If you haven't watched Studio Ghibli's anime movies, I recommend almost all of them. Spirited Away, Laputa, Nausicaä, Kiki's Delivery Service, Totoro etc..

If realistic and maybe non-animeish anime is ok. Then I recommend Monster. It's very good, just a little slow, If you start watching it, give it some time, because it starts slowly.

Ranma½ is very good and kind of long martial arts/ecchi comedy about boy who turns into girl when gets in touch with cold water and his irresponsible father who turn into panda when in touch with cold water, drawing style is kind of old, it's 80s anime.

Black Lagoon, if you like action. Samurai Champloo, if you like samura action. Ghost in the Shell S.A.C., if you like scifi action.

Detective Conan, if you like murder mysteries and little childlisness doesn't bother you. Tricks behind murders are good on many episodes, but look is kind of childish and old and it has too many little kids as characters.

And sports genre is maybe my favorite and I recommend Hajime No Ippo(boxing), Initial D(motor sports, drifting), Major(baseball), Touch(good story and baseball)..

For oldie romantic comedy I recommend Kimagure Orange Road, Maison Ikkoku, Urusei Yatsura..

And some recommendations more: Welcome To NHK, The Twelve Kingdoms, Planetes, Now and then Here and there, Master Keaton, Kyou Kara Maou, Nodame Cantabile, Death Note, Code Geass, Akagi, Kaiji..

Was that enough for now?
