Extraction menu
My most missed feature of KDE 3! I have waited a long, long time for this! My workaround was to open a terminal and type tar xfs [name of file].tar.gz which was a big pain to do. Now all I have to do is right click a file and click "Extract archive here". Just like it is in GNOME and KDE 3 
Improved Kickoff menu
New Kickoff The Kickoff menu now is themed, so it blends in with the current plasma theme you are using.
Powerdevil
Powerdevil KPowersave, which was an essential program for laptop users in KDE 3 has been replaced with a much more integrated program called Powerdevil. It's just as flexible as KPowersave, maybe even more. Enjoy using KDE 4.2! You can install it from Arch's repos or KDEmod's repos.

I'm really impressed with this beta and I think that 4.2 is going to be a huge step forward for KDE. The innovative aspects of Plasma really started to shine through in 4.1 and they are even more apparent in 4.2. The software is available for download from the KDE web site. Packages are also available for OpenSUSE, which is what I used.
